What are the 'Performance Scenarios' detailed within the KID?

When you buy certain types of investment products (e.g. funds, investment trusts, exchange traded products), we are required to give you a Key Information Document drawn up by the product’s provider.

In a section headedWhat are the risks and what could I get in return?, the KID presents a number of performance scenarios for the product. These scenarios illustrate the rates of return that the product might achieve in different circumstances and if held over different periods of time.

However, because financial markets have experienced stronger-than-usual growth over recent years, there is a possibility that the performance scenarios – which are calculated using past performance data – may be over-optimistic. Consequently, please bear in mind that the performance scenarios are simply an estimate and that past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results.
